Doll Lash Fills: What to Do (and Avoid) in the First 48 Hours

Our lash room gets called “next level” and “a luxury experience every single time, ” and we want your results to hold up like they should. Here’s the single biggest rule: keep your Lash Fills completely dry for the first 48 hours. No shower steam, no splashing, no pool days. In Mansfield, our heat and humidity can sneak up on you, so those first two days are where retention is made or lost.
The first 0 to 48 hours: retention rules we don’t bend
Think of Lash Fills like fresh adhesive that needs time to fully set. If you want that full doll lash look to last until your next fill, these two days matter more than anything you do later.
48-hour non-negotiables: avoid water, steam, heavy sweating, oil-based products around the eyes, rubbing, and picking. Keep hands off your lashes and let the bond do its job.
Do this right away
- Plan your shower: take it before your appointment, or keep your face out of the stream afterward. A quick body shower is usually fine if you keep the bathroom cool and your face dry.
- Skip eye makeup: no mascara on the extensions and no lash curler. Both can stress the lash line and shorten retention.
- Keep products oil-free: avoid oily eye creams, balm removers, and face oils migrating into the lash area.
Avoid this in Mansfield heat and pool season
Mansfield summers are hot, humid, and full of pool invites. For the first 48 hours, skip Hawaiian Falls, skip the lake, and skip anything that has you dripping sweat. Chlorine, steam, and sweat can weaken the bond before it’s fully set.
If you’re commuting on TX-360, US-287, or I-20 and you’re squeezing your fill into an after-work window, keep your aftercare simple that night. Cool shower, oil-free skincare around the eyes, then hands off.
Days 3 to 7: keep the doll lash look clean, light, and untouched
After the first 48 hours, you can go back to normal life, but your habits still matter. We’re big on taking our time and paying attention to detail, and aftercare is where that detail pays off. The goal is simple: clean lashes, no oils sitting at the base, and no friction.
Quick habit that helps retention: brush your lashes gently once a day with a clean spoolie. It keeps them aligned and helps you spot any makeup or debris before it builds up.
What usually causes early shedding
- Sleeping face-down or smashing lashes into a pillow. (More on sleep below.)
- Oil-based skincare creeping into the lash line, especially at night.
- Rubbing your eyes when you’re tired or during allergy season.
- Steam and heat sessions. If you love saunas, keep them out of your first week if your retention tends to be sensitive.
And yes, you can still enjoy a round at Mansfield National Golf Club. Just try to schedule your fill after your tee time, not right before it, so you’re not immediately dealing with sun and sweat.
Oil-free products that play nice with Lash Fills (and what to skip)
You don’t need a complicated shelf to keep your Lash Fills looking full. You just need the right categories of products and a couple habits you’ll actually do.
Use
- Oil-free cleanser around the eyes
- Oil-free makeup remover (no balm textures)
- Clean spoolie for daily brushing
Skip
- Mascara on extensions
- Eyelash curlers
- Oil-based serums, heavy eye creams, face oils near lashes
- Adhesive tapes pulling on the lash line
If you wear a strip lash sometimes, keep it for your no-extension days. Strip lash glue and removal can leave residue at the lash line that makes retention harder at your next fill.
When to reach out to us (and when it’s just normal lash life)
A little shedding is normal because your natural lashes have their own growth cycle. What we don’t want is you stressing, picking, or trying to “fix” something at home when a quick message to our team would solve it.
"My lashes always look amazing and have great retention! I love Micky so much that I drive 45 minutes just to come see her. Have had my lashes done for years and she’s the best!"
